Transportation of remains of a Deceased Kenyan

 1. Requirements for transportation of a body to Kenya

    1. Copy of Death Certificate.
    2. Copy of Burial Transit Permit.
    3. Copy of embalment Certificate.
    4. A letter from the Health Department confirming that there was no contagious disease at the time of death.
    5. Copy of Passport/Birth Certificate or any acceptable form of identification of the diceased
    6. A pre-paid self addressed return Xpresspost courier envelope from Canada Post (it should have a tracking number).
      Other courier services should have a “computer-generated label
    7. Telephone number if available of Next of Kin or friends in Canada and Kenya.

2. Requirement for taking ashes to Kenya 

    1. Copy of death certificate
    2. Certificate from the crematorium
    3. Certificate issued by the funeral director confirming that the contents are nothing but the remains and is not mixed with anything else.
    4. Copy of Kenyan passport/ birth certificate or any acceptable form of identification of the deceased.
    5. A pre-paid self addressed return Xpresspost courier envelope from Canada Post (it should have a tracking number).

NOTE: On receipt of the above documents, the High Commission will issue a letter of no objection for the remains to be transported to Kenya. (No fee is charged for the service)
